Pete, I was just about to post and ask a question on this same one!

It is very cool and unusual looking but....
??

Pete Ebbink 01-23-2005 11:58 PM

Hi Ed,

Not sure if the Imperial Navy had adopted a 4" barrel length in 1914...as the holster is date-stamped...

Is a Leuchtpistolen a flare pistol? Could this be an officer's private purchase combination holster? Looks comparable to Bulgarian quality and style. Pretty pricey for a curiosity.

Guys,

I bought the holster several months ago and returned it. It is bogus. Had to get my bank to recall funds from PayPal as a result.

It is a W.W. II vintage flare gun holster that someone has added bogus imperial markings to. AS soon as you see it in the flesh, you know it ain't real. Doesn't look or smell right in person.

Seems like someone used Buy-it-now to acquire the holster

The buyer IS a lugerforum member who evidently didn't have time to check in and read this thread... :(

Navy 01-24-2005 06:54 PM

John,

I believe the buyer is in Germany. Pls contact him, advise him of this thread and suggest that he go pick up the piece in person.

It takes about a nanosecond to spot the fakery in person.

It's obviously not a Luger holster. The heal of the grip does fit into the pocket correctly.

John Sabato 01-25-2005 11:05 AM

Tom A,

I have sent Herr Trautmann an email and passed on your advice... I will let you all know if he responds.

Russ 01-25-2005 08:49 PM

I see it is relisted again.

Obviously, Herr Trautmann got my email and backed out... Fast work guys... we saved him a bundle...

Much more! The holster is marked 1904! And also the letters are not perfectly lined up.....

Pete Ebbink 01-27-2005 11:01 AM

Good eye, Paolo...

I thought the "1904" was "1914"...either way...I do not know if a 4" barrel was used on Navy lugers that early...

Pete,

You saw my 4" Navy 1908 in Chattanooga.
You gettin' senile like us old gasbags on this forum?

Tom A.

John Sabato 01-27-2005 03:34 PM

For confirmation of the 4 inch barrel Pete, I have seen original DWM (Nico) blueprints of the NAVY P-04 and it is shown on the prints with a 4 inch barrel.

Pete Ebbink 01-29-2005 03:19 PM

Guess I am Tom...thanks for the warm welcome to the gasbag club...:roflmao:

By the way, here might be the "starter stock" for this bogus holster :
