Specifics of my old/new Luger
 

Anything you can tell me about value, maintenance, etc. will be appreciated.


I'm curious about my Vickers LTD Luger with nos. 1929 on

top of 4" barrel, 7501 and NP under barrel,larger "01" at

rear of back sight, grip safety, one clip, 9 mm (I think)

I believe there must have been a one inch by one-half inch

plate on the side of the frame over the grip.


Seems to be in good shape, no rust, lots of little profs?

stampings, lettering all clear, doesn't seem to be pitting,

if pitting means a hole, or roughness, barrel isn't as

smooth looking as the rest, but with eyes closed it feels

the same as the rest of the gun's metal surface.


The gun is in a thick letter holster that shows wear.

Three pouches, on one of them the pouch flap is worn through, two tools in two of the pouches, a cleaning rod

and magazine loader, I am told.


There is a six by three paper tag attached with a string to the holster. It's headed Naval Base Navy 3205 with:


The following material is released as being of no further

military or intelligence value:


"1. One (1) German Luger, Serail illegible" with a signature etc and name. Yet, I did find a clear number, "7105" and was told in an email Vickers in England manufactured serial numbers 1-10,100 in 1921 for a Dutch military contract. This is what you have. Vickers used parts made by DWM in Germany.

The Vickers is a neat variation. Disassembly information can be found in the technical info link on the left.


Someone Like Kyrie or Johnny Peppers may have some more historical info on the Dutch Contract.


Sounds like you have a real prize!


Please post some photos if you get the opportunity. Decent images can be taken directly from a scanner simply by placing the pistol directly on the glass and covering it with a white or other light color cloth. I know I would love to see it, and I am sure others would too. Especially the accessories.
