Luger Gunsmith In West Central Florida?
Hi All,
Does anyone have contact info for a good gunsmith that is familiar with the PO8? I'd like to give my new piece a check-up before I shoot it. Thanks, Denny R |
Denny,
I live in the Leesburg area at the moment. There don't seem to be many real gunsmiths in this area. Probably no Luger smiths. Where do you live? Maybe I can help if you are real nervous about it. |
Denny R.
Al does a lot of shooting and I'm sure he can give you an idea if your gun is good to shoot. If he has a guestion about it I'm sure he'll tell you. Jim |
Luger Smith in West Central Florida
Thanks for the reply Al. I live in Valrico, which is just south of Brandon. Southeast Tampa Bay Area. I just want to be sure the gun won't blow up in my face or that I'll do damage to it.
Thanks, Denny R |
Hi Denny...
No one asked so far...what type of luger did you get...? We woud love to see photos... Regards, Pete...:typing: |
Denny,
Brandon is about 100 - 125 miles from me. Jim is probably closer. You might call Gun Craft in Ruskin. They are big in 1911's, but I'm not sure if they know Lugers. Maybe they can recommend someone if they can't help you. They have an outdoor range and host lots of shooting activities. |
Al, did you say you are living in the LEESBURG area now? I thought you were south of Winchester?
|
Danny,
I have to go through your area on the way to Tampa in a couple weeks. I'm not a gun smith, but I have been shooting guns and been around guns most of my life. I'll be happy to look at your luger and give you my opinion about shooting your luger for what ever its worth. Jim |
John (and anybody interested),
We own a house (it was a nice waterfront house until August 13th) in Punta Gorda, FL. Charley hit it hard, a category 4 hurricane with winds clocked at 144 mph with the eye no more than 2 miles from our house. We lost roof tile and plywood, windows, etc. and the inside got pretty wet. It is presently being rebuilt for many $$$. We are currently renting a pretty nice place on a golf course (it would make a nice rifle range, but the golfers would probably object) for the duration thanks to our insurance company. We picked this area to rent because my in-laws lived here and we kind of know it. Rural and uncrowded and away from the post WWII Berlin atmosphere of PG; ask Jim-I'm sure he understands the devestation, etc. We are originally from PA and our daughter & family settled down in a rural part of WV about 100 miles south of the old homestead (near a great lake and shooting range). This is on the west edge of WV 50 miles below Morgantown, not Winchester. We are fortunate to have the best of both worlds. Our daughter and her hubby bought a big house with a mother in law apt. We reside in FL (usually Punta Gorda) about 8-9 months of the year to escape winter (thank the Lord) and visit WV for 3-4 months to escape FL heat, humidity and hurricanes. It's worked pretty well, we were in WV during the hurricane and insurance is covering much (not all) of the loss. Being retired, we didn't have to stay in PG during the repairs. It's still pretty ugly there with a FEMA trailer city erected in the middle of exclusive restricted properties. Oh well, all is well that ends well, or so they say. Maybe someday. My guns were OK but most of the good stuff is now in my safe in WV. Naturally, I do have an ample supply of hardware here for winter entertainment. I have found a great indoor range here but am still looking for a local outdoor range. |
