Info On New Luger?

Hi All,

I am new to Lugers. This is what I brought home from the Lakeland,Fl gun show today.

42 marked#8140
1939 date.
All matches except the grips(one has a number, the other just has a "1" and "0" arranged at crazy angles.
Bore is very nice, sharp and clear.
Barrel is marked "CAI MIA FL" on bottom
Overall finish is a deep blackish blue. Not as pimped out as some of the other imports I saw at the show.
Mag is marked PO8 FXO and(eagle 37?)
I was 550.00 out the door. I figured it would be pretty hard to get badly burned at that price (on a mostly matching gun with a good bore, even if a likely re-finished import).
Does anyone have any info about this batch of import pistols? There were two at the table, the other was a "42" also dated 1940. I took the one with the better bore.

Thanks for any help,

Denny R

Hi, Denny R,
I have liked the Lakeland shows also. Lots of interesting people and stuff. How about a picture of your pistole? My Family home is about 25 or 30 miles East of Lake Wales. I moved away. I really like S. Central Fl. The climate is great and out in the groves and palmettos the night sky is spectactular! Where are you?

Denny, It sounds like your got a fair price on one of the recently imported PO8s, with several firms now asking about $100 more for the same thing. If all numbers are original and match, that's definately a bonus. TH

Info On New Luger

Jim,

There were literally dozens. I wanted a militarygun ,so that's what I focused on,but there were tons of commercial ones too. I'm more of a wannabe Nambu collector(there were THREE baby Nambus there!!!) so I'm not that familiar with all of the Luger terminology(and there seems to be a TON of it!!). One piece I remember specifically was a well-worn gun that a private seller was walking around. It had "SIMSON SUHL" stamped on the toggle. Guy wanted 850.00.
