Unit Markings 1918-1920
Can someone tell me what the unit markings on the front grip strap of my 1918-1920 referr to:
1./R.R.11.16. The first "1" is small and the last "16" are small. Thanks, Art |
First Reserve Regiment, 11th Company, waffen 16, if the first R is cursive; if not, it is Ritter (Cavalry) Fegiment

Tom, that's a new one for me, what the heck is a Fegiment?
|
Thanks Tom A.
I seem to have read that unit #s may boost the value some what?? It is a recent acquisition along with a 1914 Mauser .32 (not Luger). Art |

1918/1920 1./R.R.11.16.: 1 Eskadron, 11 Reiter-Regiment, weapon number 16. Reiter=cavalry. See page 71 â??German Small Arms Markingsâ?, 1997, Gortz Tom. I cannot find a script R in the Weimar Reichswehr marking instructions. Where did you find it? Jan |
Unbelievable Forum, extremely knowledgeable people. It's encouraging to know a semi-newbie can ask any and sometimes I'm sure dumb questions and just get straight answers.
Thanks Ron and Jan |
Reserves were not permitted to exist during the Weimar period. That's why so many police and Freikorps.

Art,
There are'nt any dumb questions when it comes to this stuff. Just expensive answers, if you don't ask. Ron |
Art, Can you post photos? I am particularly interested in Weimar Reichswehr unit marks. Would like to see it.
