Although it's starting to show it's age. Dont let that fool you. This Luger shoots just like it's new. And is vary accurate. I recently tried to sell this 1906. And the guy would only give me half of what I wanted for it. His reason being that is was in poor condition. I think it rates at least fair to good. Because their is no major corrosion or pitting anywhere on the pistol. Granted the finish is started to fade. Any opinions on condition?

Tell us what you were asking, then perhaps we can better answer your post.

I was asking $1250.

While you did not give bore condition, if bore is in good condition, your asking price is not out of line. The offer of half your asking price would be a steal.

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, it looks like a mis-matched piece. The take-down is numbered 79, but the serial number on the barrel appears to end in 72. If this is indeed so, it will decrease the value somewhat.

Ron,
The barrel number ends with 79. And the bore is not in great shape. Which surprised me a bit. Because it shot so accurate.

Tenbears,

Is the frame stamped GERMANY? is the grip safety full width of the back grip strap?

Lugers seem to defy the conventional wisdom about bore condition and accuracy--many Lugers with crummy bores tend to shoot very accurately, as you have discovered. Lugers are extremely accurate guns to begin with.

Dwight,
These pictures should answer your question. I used factory loaded 30 Luger ammo from Winchester. And had no problems. Unlike 9mm Lugers. I found some 124 gr ball ammo from Germany. That was stiff enough to function the 9mm Lugers well.

Glad to hear the numbers match. Certainly worth more than half of $1250. Your price isn't too far off the mark cosidering what dealers are asking for similar examples.
