Went shooting a few weeks ago with my new Kimber Gold Match - the â??good newâ?�: I am impressed. Period. Not a single mis-feed, failure to eject, stovepipe â?? NOTHING. Even when mixing various ammo types within the same mag and double-tapping my way through. Simply excellent. The handling is excellent and the ejection is very consistent. So consistent, in fact â?? I put my empty range bag on the ground to catch most of the brass, and with the exception of the last shot from the mags â?? most of the brass actually landed in a 1â?? 6â?� x 1â?? open range bag. Consistently. Amazing.

Accuracy. â??Out of the boxâ?�, this is one accurate firearm. After sighting it in with 15-20 rounds at 15 yards â?? I moved back to 25 yards. With 230 gr LRN, it was throwing it into 3â?� groups on a consistent basis, if I did my part. After about 200 rounds going downrange â?? and feeling pretty comfortable with the feel of the Kimber â?? I loaded up my target loads. Below is a â??50 ft Rapid Fire small boreâ?� target â?? 10 shots at 25 yards from the bench.

I can usually shoot that good, even on my worst days, of course, that is when I set my target five feet away!

You didn't post this cause of a disagreement with your neighbors, did you? I sure wouldn't go get my dog if he wandered off in your yard. That sort of shooting reminds me of an old story from years back, a southern gentleman married late in life a lady more than half his age. A few eyebrows were raised, but folks had sense to keep their mouth shut. He came home early from work one day and found her with a "friend", he grabbed his gun and shot at the friend but killed his wife by mistake. Grand jury investigated, dropped charges cause of his stature in community, respectability, heat of the moment, ect. Later he and a buddy were fishing, the buddy asked, "Jim, I've known you all my life, we've been shooting since we were both 10. Nobody can shoot like you. How did you miss?" He replied " better to shoot one woman than a different man every week"

Last time I shot a group like that the paper target caught fire from powder burns...

Ed - nope, haven't shot the Hi-Power yet, but soon.! It's such a neat old HP, I'm afraid of damaging something on it (actually - since it was war production - I'm also worried about it blowing up :) )...

RK - I dunno if you make these stories up on the fly - but everytime I read one, it leaves me LOL!!!!

policeluger - ahhh - the trick on shooting a target so close, and preventing powder burns is use TWO targets stapled together. When you are done shooting from 3" - discard the top target, and show the other one :) No powder burns will be present :D

John D., next time try to find a pencil to ram through the target that's the same size as the bullet! Sounds like you have used that double target trick before!! Oh well, an interesting post anyway!

Sure JD, you show me a target (that you pencil punched) and two pistols (which you don't own) and expect me to believe what!!! Sure I do!!
