WW-I Deutsch Revolvers???
This may be a stupid question, but were there any REVOLVERS issued by the Deutschen during WW-I??? The question was raised on another board and I was under the impression that the P08 was the only sidearm used .

Dennis, There were still many Reichs Revolvers in the system during WW1. Some of these have very interesting unit markings on the rear grip strap. TH

There were Broomhandles used also, and I am sure other guns too, I think that the catch Dennis, is that the Luger was the "official" pistol during WW1.

Hi,
To complicate matters even further: The officers had to purchase their sidearms privately. This meant that quite a large range of personal sidearms were in use at any given time. |
Not to mention the plethra of 32acps that were officially procured (have Imperial acceptence stamps). To name a few: 1914 Mauser, Walther M4 & 6 (9mm), Sauer M1913, Langehan, Beholla, Menta, Senda, Leonhardt, etc. and numberous foreign made ones. TH

The German Reichs-Revolver Modell 1879/83. Many WW1 photos of troops using/carrying thse revolvers. Today, a nice one will top $800 easy.

The Still Forum has a sub-forum on the M79 and M83 RR revolvers.
