Unusual lock

Does anyone know what this was used for? Has a pistol engraved on it so implication is it was used on a gun.

Tom, My guess would be that, one end goes through the trigger guard. And the other end around some kind of hasp,or retainer to secure the pistol in an armorers rack or cabinet. From the style of the markings. I would think it may be Scandinavian or Finnish.
