price check

I was just wondering what a 1911 remington rand goes for. I was also wondering what a mismatched or refinished one goes for.The pistol itself is in good shape but the finish is gone barrel also is in good shape.
thanks ed

A very good to excellent completely correct WWII period 1911A1 will go from $850 to $1200 depending if is a Colt, Remington, or Ithaca. The Union Switch & Signals and Singers will be double plus more. When you get into arsenal reworks,1911 upgrades, and mismatched but still correct guns it gets difficult. Unlike the Germans we never serialized small parts on firearms. Our member John Holbrook has a stunning collection of 1911A1s and is much more qualified than I'll ever be on this subject. He might come up or you can contact him.

well i guess what i was wondering is $550 a good price for a shooter.I really dont think it is in collector condition as the finish is gone, but the gun is very tight and the bore looks good.

The blue light isn't going to go off in isle 5, but for a shooter grade you are looking at a fair price. Just about any tight old 1911 will fetch $450.00 to $600.00 and it looks like you'll be safely in the zone on that one, provided the bore is good and there is no rust.

Well I went ahead and bought it, got it for $500.
I think I was wrong about the finish its about 60% or better. got it at an estate sale there was no lighting in the place. It is a dark grey in color is that right for this gun.I can try to post pics if anyone is interested
thanks ed

Yes, pictures please. I for one would love to see what $500 can get you in a 1911, in your area (with some luck) :) .

www.1911forum.com has a USGI section, and their LINKS page has other resources like http://usgi1911.tripod.com/ listed.

There are a bunch of things to check on a Rand, these sites will get you started...

Regards,
Fritz.
