SE NAPCA Gun Convention...
Thinking about making the trek to Chattanooga, TN on August 27, 28, and 29, 2004 from California...
Just wondering how big a gun show this is...i.e. how many tables. Is 1 day enough or are 2-3 required...? I assume one must be a NAPCA member (I am...) to be eligble to register in advance...Is this show open to the "public" as well ? I figured with Tom A., Derek S. and Leo DeV bringing their Navy collections, I would be able to see 99.5% of all Navy lugers in existence in one place... Thanks in advance for your help... Regards, Pete... |
Hello Pete,
I usually attend the Chattanooga Convention. It is not what I would call a large show but it is well worth the time and effort. It is not open to the public. You will get to meet some of the finest people there who have common interest. As far as the number of tables, I am not sure exactly but I would say maybe 100 or more. You have to remember these are all NAPCA members who come together to discuss the hobby and many of these people have known each other for years. I have known Jim Cate since the 1960's. He is a fine gentleman and he and the others that put the show together do an excellent job. Of course this year will be special with Tom, Derek and Leo being there. The banquet that is given on Saturday evening along with the presentation is also very nice. If you have never attended you should at least try to attend once. You will be welcomed with open arms and a lot of pistols to drool over. Look forward to seeing you. |
Pete and ToggleTop,
See if you can convince those three Navy Luger hoarders, (uh, I mean forum members) to get all of their Navy Luger holdings documented on film or digitally before the show is over so we can have one heck of a fine Navy Luger photographic essay posted in the Member Gallery! |
Hello Chester and John,
I too would love to take many photos at this gun "convention"...but will need to find out if that's allowed by the NAPCA hosts and then of course the gun/display owner(s) would need to agree. I will bring my camera along, just in case... Regards, Pete... Pete, don't you hate it when you type toooo fast and it says "hell" so and so instead of Hello :D ed |
All,
We who are displaying are in discussions on photography rights. I can't/won't say more at this point. Tom A. |
Thanks for the input Tom. We will just wait until you Can...

Well...going to this convention was a no-brainer for me.
Sent in my $ 35 to NAPCA... My airfare if free, my hotel is free, and my rental car is free; thanks to all the frequent-programs I am enrolled...and dinner on Saturday is even included in the $ 35 NAPCA fee...so will only need to go "out of pocket" for a few other meals...what a deal !!! Figured this was a cheap investment in being able to see so many "honest" Navy lugers in one place...and to meet fellow NAPCA folks... Regards, Pete... |
Pete, Welcome to NAPCA. I guarantee that you'll see more collectable pistols at this small get-together than a most larger gunshows and have more time to chat and exchange info than at shows where the general public is invited. Enjoy, Tom

Hello John,
Do not know if something is wrong with the Forum today...but I was able to make an edit to your previous discussion thread...never have been able to do that...found out by accident...thought I had opened a reply but hit the "edit" icon in your last message, instead...
quote:
Pete, it is because you are a Moderator in this section. Like me :D Ed

Hello Tom, I did join the NAPCA about 2.5 years ago. The $ 35 fee was to get into the convention and dinner for Saturday night. It will be nice to attend an event that is focused on collecting and information...rather than a selling event. Regards, Pete... |
Pete, it is because you are a Moderator in this section. If you click on the main section, i.e. title section, it states who is a moderator in that section
Ed |
Ed is correct Pete... All moderators have both editing and deletion "authority" for ANYONE's posts in the area where they serve as moderator.
Admin's like John D. and I have the same authority across the board on all forums. |
Thanks, Guys...
I missed my promotion to co-moderate another section. Thought my domain was just in the Swiss section... Will look forward to the small boost in pay with my next paycheck... Regards, Pete... |
All,
If there are any LF Members that are not NAPCA members but would like to attend this convention, I would be happy to "sponsor" you. The event is not open to the public... This is allowed and I can send your name and your $ 35.00 into the registration folks. I can complie a list of names, collect your money, and send them all in by the end of June 2004. Contact me at my email, listed below... Regards, Pete... pebbink@pacbell.net |
