The Dok needs help! (No smart comments...
)I ordered a cleaning rod (the aluminum loop handle type) from Marstar a month ago and it still hasn't shown up. I need to know the aluminum rod thickness, dimension of the loop on the end, outside diameter and inside diameter, as well as overall length from end of loop to tip. Does anyone have one of these? Could you make these measurements for me, and either email me, or post the measurements here? Many thanks.

Okey Dokey Dok !! No Smart Remarks !!!
 The small loop cleaning rod is made of 0.216 inch rod. The handle loop inside diameter is 0.229 in.. The outside should measure 0.661 in,, but mine is 0.669 in.. The handle width is 1.680 in. over-all. The over-all length is 5.4 in. The screw thread starts about 2.25 in. above the brass tip. Let me know if I can give you more. See, no SA (this time)

Let me rephrase my request...
 I may not have explained my need clearly. I'm looking for the dimensions of the Marstar Cleaning Rod which I believe looks similar to the one shown below. I want to include a place for these in my cases. If anyone can provide the A, B & C dimensions I would be very greatful. Frank, maybe I misread your post but you seemed to indicate that the outside dimension of the loop was just over half an inch... so I was confused cuz I thought it was bigger. If I misread, then you're allowed to make smart comment!

 I just looked up the image of the cleaning tool on Marstar's site, and while it refers to this tool as a loop handle brass cleaning rod, what they show is a "barrel" (wooden) handle cleaning rod. Does anyone know what their loop handle cleaning rod ACTUALLY looks like, cuz I'm quite sure I don't know. Frank Rial sent me specs on the original cleaning rod which were excellent. but the loop handle was oval in shape as opposed to round, and while Marstar claim theirs is just like the original, they show a picture of a wooden handle... go figure. All assistance greatfully received.

Dok, There are a few different ones.
The dimensions I gave you were for the small loop. The large loop just has a larger loop. Both have an oval handle, as opposed to your drawing of a circular handle. I have seen both wooden and brass handle rods. All the rods I am aware are "T" shaped. Bender's Book does not show a German Cleaning Rod that is circular. Other countries mave have round top rods. I'll look a little later to see if I can find one.

Well I must be confused then. "T" shaped it is, and I guess I'll go with the dimensions of the larger loop... do you happen to have those or would they be the same as the originals (50mm) - 2" wide by 6" long ?

If anyone has one of these rods they could scan it with a ruler
next to it and Dok could figure the dimensions from the scan...

Well live and learn... I thought Marstar would be a source that many members would have gotten their cleaning riods from, so to fit for them seemed like a logical choice. WRONG!!

DOK if you are going to use a repo rod why don't you order from SARCO or CMR I think they may be more reliable.

It wasn't so much I was ordering for myself, more trying to guess where others may have ordered from... but I will check out Sarco... that's a good idea. Thanks.

Common cleaning rods
Dok, what is the most common cleaning rod that someone might have for the standard issue Luger? I know that for awhile the repro 'barrel' tops with a brass rod were the most common. I believe that Ralph listed them (not sure, though) but they seemed to be common at gunshows also. I still have several and just saw four of them in a guy's parts bin at a show last weekend. It would be interesting to know what cleaning rod is the most common among Luger collectors (repro or otherwise).

Dok, Here are the dimensions that you asked for from an original: A=50mm (1&15/16th), B=15mm(9/16) and C=150mm(5&14/16"). I only have the one original left in stock @$75, but also have repros @$25 and most wood barrel type repros for 4",6" or 8" barrels in the $15 to $25 range. Also have original and new repro steel oiler can topped with brass rod for 4&3/4 or 8" in the $50 to $100 range. P.S. Thor, thanks for the referal.

This photo that you show is the small loop "T" top that I dimensioned. I did find a circular top from the Finns and the Swiss, but alas, no dimensions.
