Ed, its a P08, not Mod 38, regardless, its a great looking gun. Tell us what it is. Have you shot it yet?

I haven't shot it yet. It is a 1918 reblued Erfurt. I haven't disassembled it yet (don't know how -but I will learn), but on the surface all of the numbers are matching. I did remove the grips and did not see any numbers on them so they aren't original - correct? The magazine bottom has GERMANY stamped on it so it can't be original either. The barrel is in great condition. I paid $575 for and since I am such a newbie it would not bother me to find out I paid too much since I can blame it on ignorance.

To some they might say it cost to much, but that is just on the high side of a shooter, I've seen them for $450, but 500 or so seems more common this year.

E-mail if you have problems taking it apart, don't force her and putting her together can be a trick.

You did fine, provided you are happy!

Hi Alan,

Congratulations on your "first" Luger. Implicit in that statement is that this is the 1st of many more to come. Welcome to the world of Lugers. Exciting, isn't it? <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Hello TC,

Where is Anakara, I have heard of it, and could look on the internet, but did you ntoice anything else besides they carried them?
I mean, when you are "in to" a hobby you notice more and wondered if at that time you did?

What kind of holsters?

How they carried them?

Officers, Enlisted, NCO's?

That is interesting stuff to me

Ankara is in Turkey and is the capital of that secular middle eastern nation, known as anatolia in the days of ancient greece and rome. Why did the Turkish use lugers? That dates back to the allaince formed between the two in the early part of the 20th century prior to ww1. From mausers rifles, lugers, to even fokker biplanes their mutual alliance was one of conveinience as a measure of security against the allied powers during ww1. Enough history--go shooting

Marc, I went shooting, shot my 1906 Luger and a 1911A1, both were fun and the stump is dead.
