I need help with a Borchardt

Hello Luger lover's.
Appreciate your help once again.
I'm in the UK and can only purchase "deactivated guns" (I don't own a Section 1 fire arm certificate).
Just bought a Borchardt C93 pistol.
I'll see if I can add pictures (I'm not up with technology?)
The Borchardt has no writing on it?
And no proof markings.
I'm thinking of sending sending it back...
All advice would be appreciated
They only made 3,000
This is numbered 1647
Help, help, help please...

Take your pictures in shaded sunlight. Use a tripod and the self timer to avoid camera shake, and get them in sharp focus. Show any markings in closeup.

They need to be resized to about 1024 pixels across before uploading. There should be software that came with the camera that can help you do this.

This describes German proof laws, established in 1891:

I have only handled a couple Borchardt pistols so cannot tell you what to expect, but others here are more familiar.

I actually find it painful to think of deactivating something as rare as a C93...

Marc,
why not move this to the discussion forum and out of site help?

Kevin,
Your Borchardt is a relatively early DWM production. The original producer of the Borchardt, Waffenfabrik Loewe Berlin, merged with Deutche Metallpatronenfabrik in 1896 to became DWM. The transition from Loewe produced guns to DWM produced guns occurred roughly between serial number 1100 and 1125. There were about 3000 Borchardts produced, so DWM production spanned approximately serial number 1125 to 3000 and your gun would have been in the first 500-600 DWM pieces produced. The lack of any “writing” on your Borchardt is problematic and indicates very heavy metal removal during refinishing. It should bear the inscription “SYSTEM BORCHARDT PATENT./DEUTCHE WAFFEN – UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN./BERLIN.” in three lines on the right side of the receiver and should have Crown BUG proofs on the barrel and Crown BU proofs on the left side of the receiver. The gun is OK as a representative example of a Borchardt but has minimal collector value in its condition.
Ron
