SKS Question
Good afternoon everyone,
I have a question concerning the old and venerable SKS and stripper clips. When reloading, is it necessary to remove the stripper clip by hand, or is it like the K98 Mauser and running the bolt will eject the stripper? |
Chris, I believe you must extract it as it works as a bolt holdopen?
|
The SKS has an internal holdopen that works off of the follower and an empty magazine. The stripper clip must be removed by hand, as it protrudes down past the bolt face when loading the cartridges, and is held securely by the bolt carrier. It can't jump out of the way they do with Mausers.
