Lakeland Show
Quote:
When I lived in Tampa, in the mid 1980s, I loved the Lakeland Show!! In fact, there is where I saw and got to handle one of the surviving .45 Army Test Lugers! When I came around the corner and saw it on display on one of the tables (under glass of course) the owner opened the case, pulled out the Luger and handed it to me for inspection. At first, I thought it must have been a fake, but after talking to the owner, who's name I have long forgotten, I decided that the pistol was, indeed, an original. Nothing has ever happened to me like that since! Sieger |
Sieger,
Well I didn't get to hold a test 45, but I did get to see and hold a 1900 DWM Carbine, which was mint and had the matching stock. I didn't ask the guy how much he wanted for it, because I knew I couldn't come close to affording it, unless I got rid of the wife and kids. MY guess would be 15-20K. Saw alot of other nice Lugers and some not some nice, most were more than I wanted to spend. Saw a chrome G date the guy only wanted $600 would make a great shooter, but I have all the shooters I need All in All it was a great show, lots of other collectible guns. Didn't sell my Colt 1903 :( Oh yea...I might add a guy had a wooden bottom mag " cal 9mm" I was thinking about buying until the guy told me he wanted $240. Jim |
Fort Lauderdale was Ft Lauderdale. Two maybe three Lugers and out of bounds!! But a good consessions stand~

I had the opportunity to hold one of the Test 45 Lugers at the Missouri Valley Arms Collectors show some years ago. Interesting setup - the pistol was in a glass case with an armed guard (local policeman) watching over it.
Also had the opporunity to hold the 45 Luger Carbine at the same show only a few years later. The size of the parts were awesome as compared to the 9mm ones. The weight was heavier but still had the same balance. |
