Found a Shooter

Have been trying to keep perusing the site fellows but my collecting got stopped when I bought a Jeep for my daughter for college. Am recovering somewhat and made the mistake of dropping by the local gun shop where the Devil had placed a 100% mint Mitchell Arms stainless luger. The Devil made me do it. I now have a shooter.

My best to you all.

Larry, check the trigger, I have a Mitchell in my shop that doesnt reset the trigger after each shot.

Thor,

How does rust blueing work out on the Mitchell?

(Couldn't help myself, I have these occasional fitzzz.)

yep, thanks for the chuckal! Only here to repair the trigger, not make the white black! or the steel blue

Congrats on your purchase! I am a fan of these guns and have two of them. Check out the posts in the POST WWII section of this forum and in the member gallery for pictures.

Thor,

You're right. Something is wrong. When the luger is cocked, I have to pull the trigger twice to dry fire it. What to do?

I'll check out those photos too. Thanks

Larry

LT, check the bevel on the sideplate lever where it contacts the trigger bar plunger. If the plunger is holding the lever, it may require the double pull to first release the lever and then the firing pin. If that's the problem, the bevel may be incorrect OR a stronger trigger spring required.... or the lever itself may not be adjusted correctly for the trigger in the pistol. I've owned Lugers that wouldn't work with just any sideplate.

Doubs,
Thanks for the advice. I took the side plate off but I don't know anything about what the bevel angle should be. The gun is cocked...the trigger bar pushes out on the trigger bar spring...one pull of the trigger...zero...next pull of the trigger...active firing pin sounds normal for a luger...a dull snap. The trigger spring seems strong, but again, I don't know what I'm talking about. I also wrote to Orimar Firearms posing the question and I'm waiting to hear back from Thor as to how to fix it, or how he would fix it.

By the way, just bought an authentic Indian Pith Helmut made from real cork (pith) in Viet Nam from www.villagehatshop.com that is absolutely beautiful. Wearing it now. Should be great for the range in Indianapolis. Feeling real "pithy."

Used to have a "canvas like" one years ago, I was pretty pithy then too!
