1900 AE with Swiss Cross on Barrel
5 Attachment(s)
Came across this 1900 AE and noticed it had the Swiss Cross proof on the barrel. Went to the Commercial Database Commentary and read the section on the serial range. Pleased to report a lower number for the database that is slightly earlier than the starting date. Pics attached. Thanks Dwight for the excellent coverage on the early Parabellum.

Does it have a grip safety, too ?

Thanks for posting! Mark |
Can someone point me to the commercial database commentary? and the significance of the Swiss cross on the barrel is?

Is it just me or does the barrel serial number look engraved?

The number looks funny, perhaps the photo.

the barrel fonts and the frame fonts seem different to me too aldo ... especially at the top of the #1's
Attachment 84838 Might be the angle on the barrel but needs more checking to me. |
The barrel numbers being stamped on the inside of a curved surface may play a part in the appearance. The stamps themselves being flat.

Compare to one of my 1900 AE's. https://i.imgur.com/8rDTm1a.jpg |
I wish I knew more about the factory assembly process which might explain the difference in the barrel/frame stamping.
We know this barrel and frame belong together by the witness mark ... its a beautiful AE gunnertwo... I hope you own it. |
Doug, I'm sorry to correct you, but what you have pictured is as New Model pistol.

I don't have time to do a full photo comparison right now, but on early Old Model pistols the barrel numeral stamps are different from the frame numeral stamps, and the barrel stamp of sn 8911 is broadly consistent with contemporary examples. --Dwight |
