Possible early design for encapsulated stock mounting.

I purpose the following, a prototype stock mount for the C96, stock designed for the artillery luger, with trommel mag and possible full sear select.

Thoughts, ideas, any information out there?

Looks reminiscent of Martz's P38 stock lug. :)

I think you are looking at where the lanyard loop has been removed...

I think this is a Frankenluger ... a mixture of parts. JMHO

Being a 1917 slide I doubt it is an Artillery prototype Luger ... earliest known Artillery prototypes were 1912 - 1913

The frame seems to be modified at the stock lug with added metal welded to make a custom lug ... impressive work.

IMO, a home lug slot addition to repair a luger with the lug ground, or added to one that never had it. Perhaps by someone with a mauser stock and no luger stock?
Clearly a welded on piece.

Skilled "bubba" at work, JMHO. ;)

This addition would make the pistol uncomfortable to shoot by hand if not impossible.

It is not a mismatch of parts, fully matching numbers. and there is no heat discoloration to to the frame. or weld scaring. all milling lines are seamless through the metal of the stock mount.

My thoughts are the requested design prototypes for 1917-1918, trench warfare wit snail drum and stock. Since Mauser was producing the c96, perhaps they had some influences to mount and stock designs.

The photos show pretty obvious welds, especially on the left side.

Please explain away the frame pitting, but not the added lump; and the file marks.:confused:

"Seamless" milling lines only means bubba used a mill after he welded the lump to the frame. :D

Reasonably good work, but no factory did it and a poor design as Lugerholster guy said. :cheers:

This is a nice 'hold by beer' project, but nothing that was done by DWM or Mauser.
