"Black Widow" Trigger Plates

I recently purchased a so-called Black Widow, byf, 1941, with matching numbers except for grips and magazine. The bluing is fairly good with some minor wear on the left side of the muzzle and a little less on the right side. The trigger plate shows considerable wear, as might be expected. On closer inspection, I note that the bluing is almost non-exitant on the entire trigger plate, not just on the high points where one would expect wear. Is this normal, or does this suggest a retrofitted trigger plate?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Luke,

There should be a small number inside the sideplate which will be one digit higher than the first two digits of the serial number of your byf 41 if it is the correct sideplate.

Johnny,

Thanks for the tip. My serial number is 4605p and the number inside is 47. That's a big help.

Luke
