Eric

I think it's simply gorgeous.

It's some sort of dream for a "Luger fanatic" like me!
Thanks for sharing with us.

Tks I actually sent the luger to George to verify its' authenticity as it looked almost too good with the twin mags. The holster was his a rare treat!!

Holster question

One small question.. Their holsters are unique and beautiful. Who made them? Were they made in house? I checked in Randall and Gortz's books however not discussed~

Ludwaffe Handbook~~

Check Point Charlie who sold me the original holster and takedown tool. He had this way cool 'HANDBUCKER DER LUDWAFFE' 300 page paper manual. It covers every aspect of Nazi life from personal hygene to the proper way to fold their cloths and disassemble their various weapons. You respect your luger more when taking a glimpse at its earlier owners~~~Eric

very cool Eric

Tks I found the history and story they represent is just as great. This luger was owned by an German Airforce officer who obviously appreciated his luger as I do close to 70 years later! The best part is that we can own one and become part of its' history and ongoing legend....Lugers don't get old they only get better and more valuable with age! Priceless and Way Cooool. Sometime when we are gone another generation will also be thankful to us and carry on the excitement and protect our proud tradition ~~Eric

Eric,
many if not all Luftwaffen Luger holsters were made by Eger & Linden in Schmalkalden Thüringen.
Your holster has not the typical stitching for an Eger & Linden holster on the closing strap and it is the first Luftwaffen holster with the "normal" stitching I ever saw.
Regards Klaus

Congratulations Eric, really beautiful book, surely to keep and preserve!

Klaus my first holster I bought from Charlie was exactly as you describe. It was also dated to my gun. It however was not in the condition of the gun.. A nice upgrade!!

The Luftwaffe Cap

Hi,

I have a similar cap without the silver braid. Had it since 1946. Kids played with it years ago and it looks it. What can you tell em about this hat. Mine did not have the spread eagle either. Some one told me mine was an NCO cap. Is your an officers cap?

Thanks
Aldo35

I really don't know. I bought it from and old Dutch man over ten years ago. I know there were multible varieties. Here is a site that sells different. I am not promoting this site but only as a reference! http://snyderstreasures.com/pages/germanheadgear.htm

The cap shown with the silver piping and braided silver hat cord is an officers. The NCO caps had a leather chinstrap with two slide buckles on the front.

Piping for the NCO and enlisted troops hats were roughly like this, (from memory).
Golden yellow- Flight crews and Fallshirmjaeger
Artillery- Red
Infantry - (Herman Goering Division) - White
Infantry - Luft Field Divisions- Light Green
Medical- Blue
Admin- Dark Green
Signals- Light Brown, (dark Brown for training personnel)
Light blue and later Dark Orange- LW Feldgendarmerie
