A couple of unit markings
I have two unit marked 1908 DWMs that I think I know what the unit designation is but I am not sure. The one is a 1st Issue that I think is 2nd Garde Grenadier Regiment, Company 5, weapon number 6. http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/DWM1stIssue.jpg
The second is a 1912 that I think might be Bavarian 4th Infantry Division, weapon number 47. Could this be a division headquarters staff weapon? http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/1912DWM.jpg Thanks for any opinions. |
Ron, another observation on the second one, the 'B' might stand for Beobachtungs or detachment, the 'I.D.' could be Infantry Division, giving you the Detachment 4, 47th Infantry Division?? The first one, 'G.G.' I agree with you.

Both your lugers are already in my data base. Please check to see if the sn is correct. * 1912 DWM, s/n 7832 : B.4.I.D.47. - (Bayerisches Infanterie-Division 4, Command/Stab, Waffe Nr. 47) * 1908 DWM, s/n 1022b : 2.G.G.5.6. - (2 Garde Grenadier-Regiment, Kompagnie 5, Waffe Nr. 6) I see you were correct on both. These are scarce unit markings to find and appear to be in excellent shape. If you ever want to sell or trade please let me know. Thanks Jan |
