Value - Erma .22

Is $250 a decent price for a Erma post-war model LA .22 Luger, very good condition, no import marks? I'm new to Luger pistols and thought this pistol my be a nice low cost intro to collecting them while I am still trying to educate myself. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You can go ahead and buy that overpriced Erma .22, but it is not a Luger! It is made mostly of pot metal and resembles a Luger, but is hardly more than a toy. Real Lugers come only in 9mm or 7.65 Luger calibers. You better talk to someone who knows something about Lugers.

I agree with Marney. It is not a Luger, just carries a name for marketing. You would be unhappy with it. They tend to give a lot of problems on feeding!

Thanks for the advice. I think the best thing for me to do then, is save that $250 for when I'm ready to buy a real Luger.

They have an aluminum or alloy frame, I have been asked to refinish them and fix the feeding but I hear that they are a spring balancing nightmare to make them work. You would have to back on a finish if you ever wanted to refinish it, or paint them......barf! Thor

I've known several folks who have had one over the years, including me, nothing but problems, no-one has one now. Erma made submachine guns during WWII and a couple of .22 & .25 pocket pistols that were ok, also produced a line of M-1 Carbines in .22 that were very difficult to take apart but very accurate, don't know if they ever made a real Luger. Their civilian line of guns hasn't been successful.
