New Acquisition

All,

With a sincere hat tip to our own John D., I am pleased to report closing the deal and making the first *major* payment for a "1 of 1" Krieghoff; to wit: A side frame marked MAGNESIUM frame piece.

Yes, the one in Gibson.

As a result, I will be liquidating some more of my Navy babies. More to follow; pls check the Lugers FS section of the forum.

And, yes, when I get the piece, I will wave a dead chicken over my camera and try to get some pix for posting.

Tom,

Congratulations on a major and outstanding one of a kind Luger acquisition! You must be very pleased. Certainly out of my league but I share in your very apparent pleasure as a fellow Luger Forum member. One of our own has that wonderful piece in their collection. I would certainly like to add a Navy Luger to my collection but finances will not permit that at this point. Wish I could have been at the NAPCA convention to hear your presentation and insights on the German Navy Lugers. Did they tape (video/audio) any of your presentation so other NAPCA members might benefit from this resource/knowledge? Yes, please post pictures of this new Krieghoff ASAP and again congratulations on a truly "can't get better than this" kind of vintage collectible Luger score!!

Tom,

I'm totally thrilled and excited for you!

Can you fill those of us less knowledgable about what a 1 of 1 Krieghoff MAGNESIUM frame is?

This, I gather, is some sort of prototype?

How about a picture?

Dean, I can't go into detail without finding my book, but Krieghoff made some experimental frames, one was made in magneseum, and this is the exact one that was featured in Gibson's book.

I was wondering how long you could keep this "under your hat" - and I have to say, you did better then I could have!!! :D

A serious CONGRATULATIONS to you Tom!!!

For the rest - this is truly "1-of-1". It's the magnesium HK factory prototype, side-frame inscribed. It's shown in a couple of places in Gibson's book and I believe Kenyon as well...

Tom - simply outstanding!!!!!

Thank you, John, and a second thanks for your assistance in making this happen.

The "better" news is it is almost half paid for.

Now, if I can move some debri...uhhh, highly desirable and unique collector grade daggers, medals, and a few Lugers, it will be ALL paid for.

Thanks again John.

I am sure I speak for the entire forum when I say we can't wait for the photos Tom...

Send them to me as soon as you take them and I will be glad to post them for you.

When will you be back in the local 'home' area so that we can arrange that one-on-one diagnosis of your perpetual photo upload problem?

Navy 09-01-2004 02:23 PM

John,

I *should* be back in NoVA area mid-October/early Nov...unless things change, which, in my bidnez, tends to be the rule.
