Small or Large Toggles Openings
Small or Large Toggles?
I am still confused on the topic of HK toggle openings; did Krieghoff make standard toggles for some of their guns? In other words, is this a defining trait or just something that is nice to have on your HK. Thanks Vern |
I have never seen an original Kreighoff withour a camfered toggle.

Tom & Vern,
The photo on the left appears to have poor lighting but magnification appears to show that this hole is also chamfered... ("beveled edge" for the non-engineering types) |

I am actually more concerned with the one on the right.
This looks to me like a DWM toggle ( on the right). The reason I brought this up is that a couple of years ago I made a mistake between a DWM & HK toggle, I got my money back, but it was not pleasant. So, generally speaking, you would accept both as HK produced? ( I know this isn't fair, not seeing the rest of the gun, Its the Holidays and I am trying to be good) Vern |
Rest of the guns...
I think the 1937 HK had a price tag of $ 9995 before the "hold" tag went up... http://www.simpsonltd.com/index.php?cPath=179_247 |
Page 169 of Gibsonâ??s book, SN 9088 (1937) has the same type of toggle as the gun on the right. I think we are seeing a toggle variation here.
I am not completely happy with this gun; note the frosting in the safety area and the lack of machine marks. Also I am concerned about the broken â??8sâ?. I also have a question about the E/2 on the lower frame right side, is this consistently applied enough to use as a criteria? I am glad I found the example of a similar toggle; I am a little less suspicious. Vern |
Vern,
Here are some photo scans of my S-Code HK Luger SN 2122... Not a 1937...so not sure if my photos will help with your questions or not. (Full photos of my HK are in a photo album in the Members Gallery section...) http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/s_code_1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/s_code_2.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/s_code_3.jpg My "assembled" rig photo : http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...ig_1_copy1.jpg |
