Interarms Mauser Luger on GB
Hi,
There is a 9mm Interarms Mauser Luger for sale on GB the seller stated it's the Swiss pattern but the picture shown is the typical WWII style. Serial # 11. 013509. Seller has not responded to questions regarding whether it's Swiss pattern. Based on serial number can that be ascertained? Thanks |

I think you are looking at this one:
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/997935748 I think the seller called it the "Swiss Pattern" is because it has a grip safety. It's actually called a "Parabellum", because Mauser didn't call them "Lugers" at all. They are stamped the barrel with "9mm luger" referring to the ammo. But, I think you are right - the forward bump on the grip makes it a P.08 style. Both styles have a grip safety. I don't think there is any difference, otherwise. It looks like a really nice kit. I bought a Swiss version at RIA last year for $900, without the kit and box. The only help the serial number gives you is 9mm (11.xxxxxx) or 7.65mm (10.xxxxxxx), as far as I know. My serial number is 11.005474 (made around March/May of 1972) |

Nice Mac... that is the late Swiss pattern the earlier one with grip safety in .30 had the original styled PO 8 grip. Both Swiss.

All post war Mauser Parabellums are based on the Swiss 06/29.
The straight grip version is the 29/70. The P08 style grip version is the 06/73. A transitional 1972 version with mixed small parts also exists. The pistol on offer is an 06/73 Interarms contract version. |
FWIW, I collected serial numbers on these for a few years. I have an 06/73 on that list ser # 11.013510 that sold on GB for $1525. This was at least 10 years ago and was without the box or accessories.

No, they did not.
In 1997-1999 Mauser did sell refurbished P08s, marked on the front grip strap. But they never rebuilt or refurbished original P08s in the 1970s. |
