Luger Holster - ID
4 Attachment(s)
I'd like to identify this holster. It did not come with a P.08, but a luger magazine fits the pouch and it has a luger tool holder that had a DE/63 marked tool (other thread from today, thanks Norm).
The holster has no visible stampings in the leather, front or back, but does have what appears to be a BA.IX ink stamp in a rectangular box inside the flap. The holster is not in great shape and appears to have been reworked heavily somewhere in its life. There are old stitching holes in the front around the closure strap, on the back by one of the belt loops, and running down the front, top to bottom, behind the magazine pouch. Do I have a WWI era holster reworked for WWII, or something like that? I appreciate any guidance. |
It's a WWI era artillery holster. See the rear where theblocks were, the front holes and the side cleaning rod pouch holes.

Ed is quite correct. A ww1 era Artillery converted for 4 inch use..likely during the Weimar period.

Ed, Jerry, thanks. Looked like some kind of a rework. I assume it was common coming out of WWI for such rework to occur, and also suspect there is not much value in a reworked holster in not so great condition. Thanks,

simpsons try to seel them for $125 or so, but they stay on their web site.
