"Shooter"
 

As some of you may recall, I have been looking to acquire a Luger to "shoot". Many thanks to those who sent email and offered advice on this subject. I have purchased the pictured Luger, which is a 1938 S/42 rework, that is all matching (except the mag & barrel, of course) and is in pristine condition. I have put 100 rounds of "store-bought" ammo through it, and had not one jam or problem. Although I am not, this Luger is very accurate. I will attempt to bring my abilities up to the Lugers standards.


Although this Luger may not find favor with some, I am quite thrilled with it. Having purchased it through an estate, I am wondering if anyone here recognizes the work? Any information that could be offered and shared would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks to those who offered assistance and advice.

Cool looking Luger, I picked up a bull barrel from Hugh, that I eventually will have him put onto a tired ole Luger, although one of those 6 inch bull barrels would be really sweet!

Bart, Let's hear it for the S/42 shooters! I've put @500 store-bought rounds through my 1937 and have yet to misfire or jam. Yours looks great! What are the benefits/drawbacks of that barrel type? Yours is the first I've seen. Take Care... Denny

Not sure of the drawbacks (other than it is not "original, pure, Luger), but one of the advantages, in my opinion, is that is seems to make the pistol more balanced and steady for target shooting. Again, only put 100 rounds through it, so still "getting the feel" for it.

Great looking shooter. A heavy barrel will lighten up the recoil. A gun that shoots straight is a real prize!

Nice Luger indeed.

This is the greatest thing about a lot of the reworks and imports-you can do whatever you want to them. You end up with something nice you like and don't have to commit any atrocities.
