New RTI Vopo Luger out of Ethiopia - First for me

6 Attachment(s)
Hi All,

Just received this luger from RTI. She's got some mileage on her, but that's ok by me.

I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on it or info. It appears that the barrel and slide were replaced, but the rest of the gun seems to match. It looks like a Mauser S/42 with 327 Q serial, or possibly a G.

I'll be cleaning her up this weekend so will get some better pics.

This Luger has more character than you can shake a stick at! I must admit, though, that if you ignore the Vopo bullseye on the grips at first glance, it's the spittin' image of one of those solid, cast alloy prop Lugers! By all means, stop any active rust, but I wouldn't go too nuts spiffing it up--I'll bet there's an Ethiopian's DNA embedded in that checkering.

OP, welcome to the Luger party. 🥳 Beginning your Luger journey with a shooter grade is a wise choice. Carefully clean and lube it. Then buy some mild 9mm ammo (such as Win white box 115gn) and take it to the range for function testing and enjoyment. Let us know how she performs.

Wow, some hard miles on that one for sure.
The magazine base looks interesting.

Not bad. It has story's to tell, that is for sure.

gtty ----- Not a bad purchase for a shooter luger. I too have a Vopo S/42 luger dated 1938 with the target grip panels. It has all matching numbers and is about 90% original finish remaining. I bought it in Germany from a private German national for 600 euros (about $800) and was very glad to get it. Again you made a good buy.
