This looks like a 1916 DWM P.08 that has a 1920 property mark and a unit stamp.

It's hard to read the serial numbers, but the appear to be assorted:
1) the front frame seems to be 600e, but a leading digit looks like it was scrubbed off.
2) the barrel (bottom) seems to be numbered 500m
3) the takedown is too blurry from me to guess, but it's not "00" as it should be.
4) the side plate is "81".


An Imperial era luger would originally have strawed parts (takedown, trigger, safety lever, springs, etc.), but there is hardly a hint of that gold color left.


So, it's a mismatched P.08.
I would consider it a "shooter" class luger.

Try to get the serial numbers in focus or at least report them.

Welcome to the forum. As already noted, this Luger includes various mismatched parts and would not be of interest to a collector. I note that the frame appears to have been renumbered. If you look at your last photo showing the frame serial number, note the faint "1" before the "6" and traces of other numbers below the two "0s." Also note that the front of receiver is slightly proud (forward) of the front of the frame. This indicates that the front of the frame was ground down to obscure the original serial number.

Other notes:
• The "00" under the sight are the last two digits of a serial number
• The 8,82 is the barrel diameter

Others may be able to identify the units marks.

To address your original question, the "type" of Luger is a WWI DWM but the receiver and frame do not match. My rough guess for value would be about $1000. max.

The front grip strap has A./J.B.21.4

I can't find anything that identifies this unit.
Often the last number is the pistol number for that group.

It's unusual to have two different unit markings, without one of them crossed out.

Now I can see the unit mark on the back frame area.
I was looking for it on the grip strap.

The unit marking, A./J.R.21.4. is a Weimar Republic military stamp. The first digit is normally the company but the Germans didn't have alphabetical companies so the A. obviously means something else. What, I don't know. Someone more familiar with Weimar markings may know.

IMO, the J.R. 21.4 means "Infantry Regiment 21, weapon 4".

Why would someone grind down the serial number? This is speculation, but it seems to have been a clumsy attempt to boost the value of a mismatched gun by making it into a matching gun. It looks like the upper assembly is serial number 600 M. The frame has been renumbered to 600 (by someone who did not understand that the "E" suffix was part of the serial number). Note that the safety bar in the renumbered frame, in your photo, has also been over-struck with "00" to make it a fake matching part (you can still see the original number, looks like a "18" or "13" underneath the over-strike).

Despite its diminished value, it seems to be in good condition and might be a good shooter. It still retains history as a WWI Luger that continued service into the Weimar era, and probably WWII. Enjoy it for what it is.
