Portland Gun Show Report

Very few Lugers this show.

1900AE for $1.6k, 1900AE rig for $3,450, table queen regulars which I'm getting tired of noting except that the ewxpensive gun is -really- nice.

Alphabet .30 commercial i block, $750.

Same table, 1908 commercial with BUG proofs, $750. Sadly, it has a holdopen added, and is a very old reblue.

.30 AE Safe/Loaded, perfect, $2.5k.

S/42 (didn't catch date), matching and pretty good shape, sold for a bargain $550.

Jerry Kramer only had a cutaway Swiss-pattern Interarms, $1,995. He also had a boxed Erma .22 conversion kit for $749, and a drum loading tool for a cool $1k.

Maybe next month's show will be richer.

I also went to the Portland show and noticed a lack of Lugers.

I did see several guns that I wish I had the money to buy. An FN49 in 7.62NATO and an Argentine Mauser calvary carbine at one table. Another table had a Mauser broomhandle carbine for over $3,000. That was easy to pass on even if it is the first one that I have personally seen. There was a very nice display of Astra pistols that had a mint model 600, three of the little 3000 in .380. Sadly, two looked like someone had tried to unscrew the barrel bushing with pliers. A Campo-Giro and Astra version of the broomhandle added to the not-for-sale collection.

Somebody else had a reworked Mauser broomhandle that looks like they put a standard top on a bolo frame and then added standard grips that are longer than the frame grip.

Lugers were poor pickings but I did see some interesting guns of other varieties.

I also got to chat with Dwight.

Any of you guys have any non-matching Luger magazines for sale or trade?

After reading Dwight and Steve's sad commentary on the Portland show, I have decided to re-enter the show scene after an absence of 3 years with my humble "luger Table", some for sale, some for show. Please stop by and say hello! You will find me under a funky little yellow sign that says "LUGERS", hovering about 8 feet off the floor, somewhere near the front of the hall.

Steve, Calvary is where Jesus died. Cavalry are horse mounted troops. Big difference... Smiles!Jerry Burney
