M4 Carbine Bayonet
8 Attachment(s)
The first rifle I ever purchased was an M1 Carbine when I was 15 years old. It was a typical arsenal rebuilt M1 with an Inland receiver and an Underwood 1944 barrel. Very clean and great shooting carbine.
My carbine had to have a bayonet, so at 17 years old I found a very clean M4 CASE bayonet, circa 1942 with leather grip. I still have both the carbine and M4 bayonet. The other day I ran across the bayonet which had been packed away when I last moved. So I thought I would share and ask what this minty US M4 Case bayonet is worth today? The M1 Carbine and M4 Bayonet are not for sale. I am not a bayonet or US arms collector, but I have a few of the classics. I have not been able to find collectable M4 Case bayonets for sale, so I appreciate your help in estimating a value for the M4. I think the M1 Carbine is worth about $2,000.00? Thanks, Mark |
I always loved the M1 carbine. I currently have three (IBM, Saginaw S'G', and Inland) but have had several others pass through my hands over the years. The only shooting trophy I ever won was with my Saginaw. :)
Going off of Show of Show prices this year (2023) the majority of the M1 carbines I saw were like yours - assorted parts, pot belly stocks, adjustable sights, etc. and were anywhere from $1200 to $1800, with a few others for higher asking prices. Those tended to be the Winchesters, and those with all correct parts (i.e., flip sights, push button safeties, flat bolts, low wood stocks, etc. ) Likewise, I have a few M4 bayonets in my collection, and while I wasn't chasing any at this year's show, most I saw were in the $150-$200 range. That said, you've got a nice looking rifle. Hang on to it! |

A Case M4 might have gone for $400 in years past; but I think the market has softened due to lack of interest in bayonet variants for the carbine.
Occasionally you will find a serious "Case" brand collector that just must have one. I'd be surprised if the carbine went over $1500. |
Thanks for the valuations and input guys, I appreciate it.
