Quick Favor........

A number of you have requested that I inspect your HKs and write a letter/brief about your HKs (similar to what I provided Tom A. on his 1943). I'm glad to provide these to you, but - please understand, I'm time constrained, and to do a "proper" job on each piece - it takes me about a week for each HK I get in, if I'm not totally wrapped up in my paying job that week....

Therefore, please be patient if I haven't replied to you yet, as I have 3 HKs in the queue for folks - so September through early October may be difficult. Also - when I write up your HK, that letter is your property - not mine. So, if you want to post pictures/gallery, only you can do that - I won't unless you specifically ask me to do so (as again, I did at Tom's request for his 1943 RIG here:
http://gallery.rennlist.com/lugergallery/tomahk

In fact - I do not mention which HKs/serials/collector's names in public - or even share that data in private. I figure that's your business...

So - if you have asked me to look at your HK in the past months, please PM me your mailing address so I can send out my C&R to your attention and schedule a mutually convenient date to schedule a review. As well - I'll need an original signed copy of your C&R along with your HK. Also - please, if you have only a C&R - only send them Fedex/UPS overnight and insured - AND PLEASE LET ME know before they are sent - as I need to be here when they arrive!

Finally - I have no set price for this service to folks on the LugerForum, so don't ask. The only thing I ask is that you reimburse me for actual shipping costs to return your HK to you using Fedex. Donations are well appreciated - however

Anyway - I figured I'd post this in public, as I get a number of requests each week from this Forum, and I don't want you to be disappointed if I can't review yours immediately....

My thanks to all for your patience and support..!

John D.

I'm a "tester" so, you have to send the full bottles to me to "test" them for you!

Jeez, getting drunk is sure getting harder to do than it used to be!

Ed, You have to sober up in between drunks, or it just feels normal.

I just wish I had an HK to send....after seeing what the K-Date went for on Gunbroker last night, I might as well quit trying to assemble all the Mauser dates. That is only 9 pistols, what is so hard about that? Only problem, there are a lot of other people trying to do the same thing.

So did I, as I was going to bid... I have no idea where prices are going - but they are topping off the "silly" scale....

Anyway - if you ever do get an HK - please feel free to let me know what you are looking at before you make the buy and ask questions. And if you do purchase it - know, I'd be delighted to assist with any aspect of that as well, OK???

Best to you,

John D.

SteveM,

Could you tell us what the K-Date sold for. I have several I am going to sell and would sure like to know what it sold for. Do you have the auction number?

Thank You,

All,

John D.'s contribution to our hobby is unparalleled to the best of my knowledge;he has invested time and money to ensure we borderline nutjobs are able to enjoy our hobby.

I have it on good authority that John D. enjoys an occasional snifter of Jefferson Reserve in case of snake bite;I also understand that he has a few pet rattlesnakes.

John D. 09-08-2004 01:22 AM

Hey TT..

Here you go...
http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/Vie...?Item=22397351

It ended up at $3535.....

Tom/Ron...

Yep - only for "medicinal purposes"â?¦ And Ron â?? remember, it took me a long time to figure out the solution to hang-overs

Best to you!

Hello John D.,

Thank you for the link. I was interested in order to be able to add this information into my data bank. I appreciate you taking your time to post it for me.

Best Wishes,

SteveM 09-08-2004 07:25 PM

TT,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner with the auction finals..that was a pretty healthy closing price. I figured $2500 would be approximate value.

Steve,

As a Mercury Outboard Motor parts man told me one time if you gonna play you gonna pay. I guess the question is always how much. It was a pretty steep price but I guess the owner now has a K-Date!

Regards,
