Just in matter of fact: Heinrich Krighoffs Logo is not "H & K" shouldn�´t it be an anchor between the 2 letters H and K ? H & K is more like Heckler & Koch? |
Pisto has a good point. The logo on the sight adjustment tool seems to be correct, but the firing pin gauge could be suspicious.
In regards to the sight adjustment tool, I am curious as to why the finish on the gauge and the turning handle are different. Albert |

Be careful out there.... Can anyone tell me what die type the "H"dagger"K" is on the sight adjustment tool? Me neither. Never saw a dagger blade in a scabbard.... The second post from Pete? I see the seller "found a few more in his Uncles lost warehouse" - which is why these all seem to keep popping up... Careful..... John D. |
Nice looking sight adjustment tool but I agree with Albert, The handle should have the wear not the sight block.
Mr Armstrong is high bidder and I know he knows what he's doing. As for the dagger in a sheath, I cannot see the photo well enough ...I got my suspicions...Maybe Tom will comment on it..Jerry Burney |
This is just an uneducated WAG, but it looks to me like the sight block is case hardened and the handle is blued.

Ron, It dosen't look all that case hardned. If it is it's pretty slight, looks more like in the white to my tired holster repair eyes...Anyway, why would it need case hardening? It would experience no great shock or excessive wear. Isn't case hardening rare among German gun parts? Jerry Burney

It very well could be just in the white. The grey color kind of suggested case hardening. It certainly wouldn't be to protect against shock (case hardening isn't very effective for that anyway) but since you would want to hold fairly close tolerances on securing the sight block to sight adjustment drive pin alignment, maybe case hardening might help. Just a shot in the dark and I'm probably all wet. |
Case hardening ore not, it culd also be surface alternated to be looking old using some acid. My fear is and I would suggest, the Markings are pantograped by a scilled engraver? These Sight tools show up in the same pattern more and more. Roland, I started out years ago making reproduction lanyards for the Luger pistol. They are pretty close to originals and I have gotten better at them over the years. I have one on Ebay right now but unlike the one you mention above, I have not stooped to making a poor replication and putting German marks on them.
I clearly state these are made by me in my Luger Holster Repair Shop and they are very handy for keeping your shooter from falling while at the range. I might also mention, the ones I make are very time consuming. The brass swivel is a little piece of jewelery. Very dainty and not easy to make. Well worth the $85.00 I start them at for a usefull representative example. The above mentioned "catch Sling" has no such disclaimer. He implies but does not state the origin of these lanyards. Just for comparison:
This is a fairly modern P08 9mm sight tool I purchased a while ago. Although the main block seems to have a certain amount of wear and 'age' to it, I don't think this thing is older than say 20 - 25 years. Note that the top and the handle are not dissimilar to the 'H&K' one. The real giveaway is the interior, modern spring, grease and retaining clip. Pretty functional, this thing and a good fit. the sight tool you showed us is not old. I bought one just a couple of months ago as new and it cost some 30 Euros. As you mentioned, it is a fine work and absolutely helpful to adjust a shooter's sight. Armin. |

Well, the seller at least dispels any notion of this being a Krieghoff tool, or even Heckler & Koch. Has anyone heard of "Hahn & Kolb Stuttgart,Tools factory"?
