Late 'S' (1936) #3068

Hi all,
I'm now the proud owner of my first krieghoff.
It arrived yesterday from the UK where it's spent the last 60 odd years under wraps.
Any comments are most welcome.
Thanks,
Brendan

Lovely HK, Brendan...

Please do not break our hearts and tell us it was de-activiated...

Brendan,

Great photo's of your new S code.
I had to go back thru the Krieghoff secton to check the history of the pistol - I'm very glad it worked out for you and the conditon of this Luger.
Very nice S code Krieghoff.

Best Regards,
:bigbye:
Fritz

Hi,
I'm pleased to say Pete, she remains fully operational, although it's unlikely I'll be shooting this one regularly.
Just need to locate a suitable holster & tool now.

A wonderful HK specimen and GREAT photography... thanks for sharing.

Thanks Fritz's for your reply.

John - I'm indebted for your comments towards mauser's & krieghoff's, indeed, early on in my membership, you offered me these thoughts...

''In 1937, Mauser began using hot salt blue for the entire pistol instead of strawing some of the smaller parts and using rust bluing, but the precision was superb in the mechanical parts... So if you want the best (short of a krieghoff) the late Mauser pistols are the best in my not so humble opinion... Pre 1937, if you want the traditional rust and straw finish, post 1937 if you want the darker salt blue finish...

This S now sit proudly amongst it's early strawed '37 S/42 & '41 byf brethren.

The questions is - where do I go from here...?

Choices, choices, too many choices... & not enough money.:(

Brendan:)

Brendan...

Link to a tool with Simpsons...

May want to have them send you a photo, first...

Price on these HK tools is high...I ended up paying $ 250 for one that I picked up about 3 years ago...

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the link, it shows they're out there, if a little steep in price

Is it possible this may be a late E2 tool 1937+ & I'll need an early E2 tool '36+ ?

If this follows on the holster marking, it'll make the search for each a little harder.

Pete Ebbink 11-10-2007 01:28 PM

Brendan,

Not sure if anyone knows what TD tool proof is proper for what dated-HK...

Gibson mentions a bit on page 142...

As you may know, running across any legit HK tool is not a common event...
