Removing magazne
 

I have an 1914 Erfurt Art and need two hands to remove any of the 4 magazines that I have. How easy should the mag's be to insert and remove. I have other pistols with a release button and they seem to just fall out when the release button is pushed.

They should either fall out, or come out with very little effort after the magazine release is pressed.

Sounds like either a deformed frame is possible, the wrong magazines are in use (I think CDNN recently was selling Mauser made Luger magazines inexpensively - but they are made for the 1970s Mauser Parabellum pistols).

You might check to see if an overlong grip screw is putting pressure on the mag body and causing drag.

And look for tell-tale scratch marks on the mag body to determine exactly what is going on. Sometimes Prussian Blue or even magic-markier can be used in the quest to find friction points. (Being careful to not damage original finish, of course.)
But this certainly is not a normal condition.

In the first place I would check just to be sure to use the correct magazines and in a good state, then the thing that you need both hands to remove a magazine makes me think of a deformed frame.

Marc,

CDNN was also selling Stoeger OEM mags for the Luger. I have three(3) of them. Two(2) are just fine, but one was oversize and would drag going in and coming out of the mag space. I had to "tune it" with a file and emory paper, but got it to work just fine. Apparently the QC is a bit lacking on these mags.

I have also noticed that my SS Mitchell mags are very tight in a German made luger( I was trying not to say "real Luger"!):D
