dwm police 1935 rework

I have in my collection a luger that i have had since 1966 and a friend
of mine had for 8 years before that. This luger has a DWM toggle,
intertwined tp on barrel,Simpson 6 and S on rear toggle.Does anyone
have or seen a luger like this? pictures will be posted later. Its not
for sale i just want to know if there is another one out there?
The S on the rear toggle is what i don't get.It also has a sear safety
and two matching magazines the pictures will show them. please help.

Do all numbers match? What proof/acceptance stamps are on the right side of pistol?

Henry, I am not sure what I can add to what I emailed you (see below) and perhaps others have a better guess than me.

1. A 19xx (year it was first made) by DWM, that was reworked in the Weimar era by the Berlin Police Armory (with Simson supplied parts) around 1935.
2. It has a Sear Safety, which may very well have been put onto the luger at the same time that it received the sear safety.

If there are no unit markings on the front of the grip strap, it is hard to know who this was issued too, but definitely a luger that served in WW1, then the Weimar era (although there is speculation that many were placed into storage until it was needed), and then reworked by the Berlin Police Armory and issued, most likely in the Berlin area and served through WW2.

I don't know if it can be established but, as for as you know, are the case and accessories original to the Luger? Does anyone know if Simson ever sold Lugers to the commercial market? Maybe a vet put his trophy in this case.

Simson's were made just for the military and police. I am starting to beleive that magazines, and maybe some other items were made for the commericial market, but lugers were never sold that way. I've looked for proof either way, and there are no catelogs that show simson lugers being sold commerically...

The case is home made i made the case about 1968 ,but the luger,and
magazines,cleaning rod,take down tool,pin punch are all original they
came in a brown leather holster which was sold by the person that had
the luger before me.

Very nice work on the case. It would be well worth it to at least try to track down that holster, especially if it is numbered to the gun. It could almost double the value as a complete rig.
I think I can make out the Simson proof on the loading tool. Is the cleaning rod also proofed? Did Simson make cleaning rods or rework/refinish them? It looks exactly like an early commercial oiler top cleaning rod.

Henry, I second the comments about the nice case. You do good work.

What is the chamber date, if any? If only the barrel and rear toggle link are Simson proofed and matching to the rest of the pistol, I would guess that this is a Weimar era rework for the police. TH

the chamber date is 1915 there is a proof mark on the bottom of the
barrel . I beleive i emailed Ed a picture of it ,maybe??? The holster would
be impossible to track down it has been 41 years ago that i bought the
gun from a friend,and he sold the holster.He has since passed away.
Its the S on the rear toggle i don't get maybe someone got happy with
the S stamp.
