Well Steve does not seem to like it that people visit his website.
Reinhard Kornmayer did a few private publications about Swiss Lugers and he lives in Germany.
I'm not sure but he may still have copies available for sale, maybe one of the members can contact him about this and organise a group buy ;)

That little booklet (roughly 6"X8" and 40 pages) was published in 1970 and is long out of print. It is one of the more difficult Swiss Luger publications to find. I have one and I looked for several years to find another one for John Eckert. Unless the copyright has expired, "stevespages" might be a copyright infringement

As folks download items, it uses up bandwidth. What I find odd is that if you put something on the internet, to look at it, you have to download. So, whadayaexpect Steve? :D

My idea but still the original writer is the one to decide about this no ?
He's still there and it's worth a try. He wrote at least two booklets see the sources in Vittorio Bobba's book.

When I found the pages, you have to download the compressed files to see what's inside the packages. I thought that site was more welcoming than that? :confused:

Ed is probably right, it's caused him to exceed his limits set by his hosting provider.

I just took a quick look, and I didn't save the package when I first reviewed it. If it is a copyright infringement, maybe that is just as well.

If this publication is now copyrights free, why is it a problem? Also, if steve puts it on his web site, why his he getting mad about downloads? That's the purpose of internet to share knowledge with others.

If this document his free, why not putting it on the forum , under technical info, of course with the authors OK

...I will send Mr. Kornmayer a note to see if he might be interested in a re-printing.

I will ask him about the "minimum" number of booklets he would want a "comittment" on before a reprint.

We would then have to do, as Guisan suggest, organize a group buy...maybe a "hard group buy"...where everyone pays up front for their copy before a reprint is ordered.

If we can get a reprint, I will buy one, so please add me on your list

I did not save a copy of the short letter I wrote.

But you can mention my name and that my letter came from the USA.

I introduced myself, asked if he had any "old" copies for sale and if not, if he would be interested in a reprint...on the basis that we could guarantee a certain number that would be purchased by the members.

My letter went out in the mail around the Christmas Holidays.

BTW...

I did not think about it when I wrote my letter...but you might ask him if he has interest in the reprint-effort...would he consider an English translation added as a supplement to the original booklet(s)...?

He might be able to sell more if an English-version is available.

I just had REINHARD KORNMAYER on the phone. It was a real pleasure for me to talk with a 70 years old man which still publishes articles in the Deutsches Waffenjournal http://www.dwj.de .He told that he completely sold his Swiss collection 2 years ago, because none of his sons where having interest in Lugers. He also told me that he owned every models and every variation of the Swiss lugers (~70 units.....) which may have existed.

He totally agreed if we would like to make copies of his book, He doesn't aim for some copyright anymore.

This book was initially made as a brochure for the Swiss collector association and it content has been used several times by other authors. He only got 3 copies left and the only way he can help us is to make photocopies of them.

I think that the pdf copies that were on the internet are ok if we need to make something out of them.

Any suggestion on how to move forward?

Glad you had a nice chat with him on the phone.

In a week or two, I will be less busy with my work and will look into the printing costs of having some copies made of the booklet I just purchased in the past 2 weeks. I can make paper-copies available to members that want one for the printing and mailing costs only...no profit mark-ups.

I will also make a high-resolution pdf-scan of the booklet and will let folks know they can receive a copy as well.

I suspect the pdf-file will be too large for most folks to receive it via email...so we may need to look at having the pdf-file down-loadable from a hosting web site...

BTW...does anyone have the "other " publication that was mentioned above...can you post a scan of what it looks like ?

Maybe was can chase down a paper copy of that one, too, and do the same with it to make it available to members with Swiss interests...???

It's a new year, and I guess Steve is hoping to stay under his bandwidth limit with a mildly worded warning:

"In order to prevent excessive bandwidth abuse please take only what you need so that others may utilize this feature."

The original link is working. If we've made it past the copyright issue, perhaps copy Steve's PDF and host it here for the members?
