New Twist on an old Luger?

I saw a shooter at a local gun store the other day. It was a DWM with a new 6" barrel. The bore was like liquid glass, but the odd thing about it was that it had almost no twist to it. The lands and grooves were almost parallel with the barrel, just a very slight twist. I've never seen such a slow twist, except possibly in a rifle barrel. It didn't appear to be a barrel that was cut down from a rifle barrel, but I'm not an expert. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I'd take a closer look in the breach area. sounds to like someone re-lined it with a rifle barrel. Is it .30 cal?

It looks like it might be a nicely machined rifle barrel.

Any old .380 Nato rifle barrel would make a nice new Luger barrel (9mm is .380 cal) although the twists and lands would look a little less tight which is in line with what you observed. Still, it would makes a good shooter though and one can always pick up a genuine Luger barrel later and fit it.

.380 NATO?

Murray excuse me but what is .380 Nato?

sounds like you are mixing the carrots with the dicks here.........

shouldent it be .308 nato, wich can make good 7,65 barrels?

Most 7.62mm/.308 rifle barrels are between 1:10 and 1:12 twist, so you should have seen at least half a turn looking down this barrel you report. The exception is my Steyr SSG, which has a 1:9 barrel for the heavier 190 - 200 gr bullets. My Krico 640S Scharfschutzengewehr has a 1:10 barrel, which is considered a medium twist over here in not so sunny UK. Still, your barrel sounds very odd 0 more like a black powder shooting barrel - now there's a thought!

It's 9mm. My guess is that if was a rifle barrel, it was blackpowder. If so, I'm wondering if it'd be safe and accurate?
