Navy Luger at the Range

Bought this off Ebay for a couple of dollars. Most period pictures of Naval Lugers are with a group of sailors posing. This picture is most likely early WW2. It depicts the happy couple out at the range. My interpretation is he is going to show his date how to shoot a pistol. It looks like the young officer is done shooting and has a P38 lying on the table pointed down the shooting line. Not safe. She brought her own pistol, a Navy Luger, and is now dropping the last round into the 10-Ring.

Clark,

Interesting photo. I cannot make out the object(s) on the table as a P38. Someone on the forum may be able to identify the uniform.

Very crude shooting station. Only good as a sun shield.

I think its a very cool picture. I have picked up a couple of early photos from the 30's and have several with a woman shooting. It is unusual to see that then.

My thoughts exactly ... the only thing I see as 'Not safe' in this picture would be this shelter ... I don't see anything resembling a P 38 and I think the lady is already an accomplished shooter IMO :roflmao:

Looks to me like part of a "family day" event that are held by many military formations world wide. Usually include picnics and events for kids.
Range station possibly a field expedient structure just for the occasion.
I am presently at Clarksville Tenn for the annual 5th SFG reunion.
The active duty folks are hosting just such an event this week.
Today, in fact. Including a mass parachute event and a big picnic. A water drop this year.
Some pics from some past events.
