Hi to all! Well, had another dose of all day crazy repair effort yesterday! :eek: I am currently finishing up some repair jobs that also involved blue and straw! Turned out pretty good for shooters, just not all polished out and rounded over! Well, somewhere along the way, I decided that the trigger spring will be a, "must do" replacement item, seeing only positive trigger return, and frankly, no down side?
Soooo, I get it all together and dry fire it at the bench and it won't go off!!!! I squeeze it as hard as I can and no dice, after several disassemblies and parts swapping, I can just barely get it to work with about fifty pound trigger pull!!!:eek: keep in mind that the gun worked fine prior to the re-blue. So here is where the crazy starts sneaking in... You find yourself doing the same thing over and over and expect different results... And, unfortunatly, I know this! So, before I get to, "Dog sh$$t nuts!" I stopped and reviewed. and fortunatly, I start right at the heart of the issue, the trigger spring no-brainer replacement. Turns out the spring, (aftermarket) Is made with extremely heavy spring wire, and as such, the coils were stacking and not allowing the trigger to go back far enough to trip the sear. Duh! Now I am creating my own problems... So, in retrospect, the trigger should go back all the way to the frame, spring or no spring, every time in order to make the fire control parts have the correct takeup and overtravel.. I put an original spring in it, and right back to normal... Happy, happy, joy, joy! Hope this enlightens some of you, (like me) shade tree Luger techs! ;) Best to all, til.....lat'r......GT:cheers:

Any idea where that replacement spring came from?
Who carries reliable replacement part ?

I've bought a few small parts from SARCO that worked for me, but no springs.

No idea?
 

Hi Russ, I don't know as I've never bought specifically Luger trigger springs? I get them in parts groupings that usually have a couple tossed in, or as tag alongs on quantity trigger purchases. I wasn't aware that the heavy ones could be problematic? I'll be a lot more careful on trigger springs going forward... best, til....lat'r....GT...:cheers:

I'd love a packet of springs of all of them in a luger and also all the small pins and then buy about 20 packs of them :)

I had a Luger once with a light but smooth trigger pull..turns out someone replaced the original they likely lost in the carpet with a ball point pen spring. It worked...

any idea if Wolff spring packs will do the trick ?

Hi Rick, I think on the average, wolfe springs are pretty good replacement springs? But, I'm not familier with their trigger spring?
The three most important springs in a Luger are the mainspring, the extractor spring, and the magazine spring. :eek: The rest don't seem to have any extreme demands put on them? The sear bar spring might have something to do with doubling when weak, but for the most part, if it's in there, it's probably working! ... Best, til...lat'r....GT..:cheers:

I've bought the wolff spring kits a couple of times, usually forget to use all of them :)
I had just bought a spring and pin replacement kit for the 1911 is why I stated above it'd be nice to get all the small parts.
