It's called "French Gray". I believe it's done with an organic acid wash. Found on the receiver's of very high end engraved single shot rifles and shotguns. Almost a lost art of old world gun building, when done correctly.

Dang, i think i need a bucket under my jaw, that thing is positively gorgeous. Just look at the meticulous detail, lordy thats a beautiful pistol. Not so much a pistol, as an incredible piece of art. Well done sir, well done! This is a piece many of us just close our eyes and dream about, please, more pictures :)

Once you've gotten calmed down, you really ought to have a professional photographer take some photos. I'll bet the detail is stunning!
