Need help on 1914 Erfurt Valuation-fast!!

Examined a 1914 Erfurt at a gun show today --it was all matching on the outside in very good condition--Two matching mags and a excellent condition Erfurt marked holster-- before I invest in this--I really like the looks--what is an approximate valuation? in Still's book on Imperial Lugers he shows a production of only 7,000-this seems fairly rare to me. Help will be greatly appreciated!

Dear Treebeard, What is the serial # and SUFFIX of this 1914 Erfurt? Please read 1914 Erfurt dilemmas I, II, III, etc. above. A ns, a, or b suffixed Erfurt in good shape would probably fetch $1500-2000. If it's one of the "later suffixes" the price is problamatic, but certainly less than above. Please enlighten the Forum on the suffix of this 1914.

Please describe the markings on your "Erfurt" holster?

It will be tomorrow before I can determine the suffix--frankly I was not experienced enough to realize the importamce of this letter. The holster has the Crown on the back of the holster between the belt loops--I admit I did not look inside the flap--is there something I should be looking for?

Hello:

Erfurt did not make holsters nor did they stamp them with a crown. The mark you refer to should have a Roman numeral I, II or III under it. I believe that they are the acceptance stamps for the 3 Bavarian Army Corps. Constanzo, World of Lugers, states that the stamps are Weimer Police asseptance stamps, however, that is not correct.

Look inside the flap or on the front of the holster under the flap. You should, but not always, find date and maker's stamp.

Good Luck,

THe crown over I, II or III marked holsters are later holsters dating from around 1918 or later and are not linked to Erfurt by marking.
