Luger Swiss .. all the Euros?

Hello to all ... I would like to know the opinion of the experts about the Swiss luger..
The vendecor sells her with everything, loader of supply, box, rod of cleanliness ... etc.
He asks for her for 18500 Euros ........ that looks like to them the price?

drbuster 06-10-2010 11:56 AM

A nice early 1900 commercial! Would be nice to be able to trace any provenence to former owners that would justify the high end price. I would expect the luger to be in better condition, but overall an interesting "rig". Is there any marking on the top of the box?

Hola Antonio, I'm not a Swiss Luger specialist like some others on this forum, but I know enough to say that $22,000.00 plus, is way to much for this rig, "rod of cleanliness" notwithstanding. Best regards, Norm

Antonio,

I agree with Norm, very expensive. Demasiado dinero!

Hello!
I just would add that - looking at the pictures - I would swear that the extractor is not the original one, but a Swiss replacement, more strong than the DWM one, blackened and not straw colour. Nothing so important: many Swiss M1900 Parabellums have this replaced, but this surely doesn't add value... And considering the price asked...

Looks like another hair dryer box as well :)

This is an old-model Commercial, not a Swiss--see the third photo.

It's actually in quite poor condition - and the asking price is a cross between delusion and fantasy.

Take off 1 zero for it's true worth.....

Ron Wood 06-19-2010 01:31 AM

The condition really isn't that bad, so I do not think that reducing the value by a factor of 10 (take off one zero) is realistic. I also do not think the extractor is of the later "reinforced" Swiss type. As "drbuster" observed, this is not a Swiss gun, but an early Commercial as confirmed by Dwight Gruber. The "dryer box" notwithstanding, it is a decent early gun in what appears to be original condition that is worth at most around 30-40% of the asking price, i.e. $7000 or a bit less. I bought a similar condition 1900 Commercial in the same serial number range, without all of the neat extra goodies, for $3000.

This one is for sale in Switzerland at the moment @ $USD5400 - from a very expensive dealer. The serial number is in the 34xx range - very close.

It's condition is far superior to the other one.

I am not an expert on Lugers but can someone explain to me why the difference between fonts on serial number stamped on frame, and one stamped on barrel?

Ron Wood 06-21-2010 05:59 PM

I think the fonts are the same, the "foot" on the "1" is just hard to see in the photo. Blow the image up 200-300% and you can see it.
