Real or Fake Grips
I have no clue, but they look real to me. Asking this question for a couple of my Luger buds! Whatya think? http://members.rennlist.com/lugerman/KRIEG217.JPG http://members.rennlist.com/lugerman/KRIEG218.JPG

Thor, My guess is they are legit!! Typical coarse checkering used from about 1935 until 1939, phased out in 1940 according to Gibson.

Hello Thor
I have the same on 93xx from 1937 but on the 1936 I see with fine checkering |
These look good to me, too..!!!!
Also - LU1900, the finer grip pattern (and typically darker brown) are referred to as "Ritzmann" Grips, which are found in the "S", "36" and a few of the lower serial numbered "1936" production... Best to you! |
I was just informed that the holes in the back aren't threaded so can they still be original?
|
Hi Don...!
If I look at the photos above - the insides do appear threaded - BUT they should be a smaller OD then the grip screw (you can't screw a grip screw into them as the BW grips). If they indeed have no "threads" - then no, they need to be threaded. As well - most repros will be "off" on the top left grip, and not have a counter-sunk to the holes - as these do have... |
Ted,
