1918 dwm

Morning All. First time visitor, and first post.

I have 1918 DWM 9mm Luger. All matching except for Magazine. Reasonably good condition.

My question: on the back of the grip, there is what appears to be a Unit Marking. 11/419 N6.

Does anyone have an idea? I've had no luck finding anything.

Hi. Am a new member. Have a 1918 DWM , with regimental markings on grip.according to other posts, the "419" had companies report to the Russian front, then reassigned to the big battle Eastern front, at the Somme. My gun has very little wear as far as the internal barrel condition, as well as any toggle marks. But...the exterior has lots of holster wear marks. Matching numbers. As if it was carried a lot.
My question is ...are there any records left as to who was.assigned this gun? The company within J.R.419 indicates gun issued "23".

There is virtually no way to ascertain which gun was issued to which soldier, short of stumbling across the serial number in someone’s soldbuch.

Research on regimental markings. 419

I contacted the Archiv in Germany, and asked them to research anything of value, as to any names in the Company ( K2) . I don't expect much, but they wrote that they will look into it. Stated that results may take several months. If I get anything good
, I'll pass it on.

A 1918 dated Luger can't have been in Russia because it was peace between Germany and Russia in 1918. Somme is a river in France and the battle at the Somme was in 1916.
If you write exactly the unit mark of your gun I will try to help you.
Regards from Germany

If the unit mark is exactly as the OP states with a slash then that should be a Weimar period unit mark stamped postwar.

I think the number 416 is a bit too high for a 100000 men army but you are right with the slash.
Without a photo hard to say what it is...
