Using Jeff Noll's fine book on Imperial German Regimental Markings, it would translate as follows: Feldsignal-Abteilung, Kompagnie 4, Waffen 19 or Field Signal Detachment, Company 4, Weapon number 19

However, those are WW1 Imperial German Army unit markings and are out of place on a 1939 Mauser. It would seem that you have a Luger with a WW1 era frame and later upper; at least the toggle train. Clear, detailed pictures of both sides and top of your Luger would help to determine exactly what you have.

hi,

i did my best with the pictures, in german we would say "er hat sich stets bemüht.."
i am surprised, the shop i bought the gun years ago, said that it was a ww2 gun an all numbers except the grips and sideplate matching.

i use the gun weekly on the shooting range with only two mechanical fails, broken extractor?(auszieher) and broken firing pin ( ~7k rounds)

grüße

Bmax, from your pictures it looks as if the front of the frame has been ground to remove the original serial number and a new one stamped. There is also an "X" on the left side of the receiver that possibly indicates this was what is commonly referred to as a "Russian Capture" Luger. It's a nice looking Luger and should be a fine shooter.

If it was used in police service S.A. is Aurich District Schupo but that the markings consistent with the 1932 Schupo marking guide says the 4 should be a roman numeral
