.30 cal Luger and a 9mm Trommel snail drum
Question.
As the .30 luger uses the same mag as the 9mm in 8 rounds can one use a Trommel snail drum in that caliber? |
It should work.

Maybe not - GT pointed out that the overall length of the cartridge is critical.
He said he has some 9mm ammo that that didn't feed properly because it was just little too long. My guess is that the tube would load smoothly, but once you get into the drum area, the rounds would get jammed up. The .30 cal (7.65mm x 21mm) is 2mm longer than a 9mm luger (9mm x 19mm). See: " AEG drum almost out flanked me!!!" It's in the Repairs, Restoration & Refinishing topics Linked here: https://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=42149 |
It works. I tested a Bing drum with .30 luger in a Swiss 06/29. Worked perfectly. All 32 rounds.

Great... I do have an arty Luger 'in the mail' 1917 model and have a snail drum coming also
I'll try it out on my Swiss now. |
The two mm are for the case , not the ammo , I try too , no problem for me
