Another 1900 AE

Two recent acquisitions. 1900 AE on top, all matching, original finish. Bottom 1921 Police, matching but I believe reblued. I know the 1921 does not belong here but too lazy to take photos of each separately.

Serial number on 1900? Helps to know if it is early or late. :)

18838 Probably late, has the wider grip safety paddle, and no proofs. The police is 4712.

well, I like both :)

 Thanks for the SN. With the Type III thumb safety I thought it would be late, but it is always good to verify rather than assume. I am a big fan of 1900s, glad you got one!

I'm glad too. I really wasn't even that interested specifically in the AE models. I considered them out of my price range. I put what I thought to be a real low impossible bid of $1225 on this AE on Gunbroker, never expecting it to win, then I forgot all about it, and low and behold, here comes an email saying I won. The pistol seems to be a pretty decent example of a 123 year old gun, and the only flaws are the top of the front sight, and the broken take down bolt spring. Both replaceable. I'm at a loss to understand why there was no larger interest in this Luger. I've seen other "junker" looking Lugers go for astronomical prices, but this one sold for what I think was a shooter price. I'm definitely not griping, just wondering about my good luck cause it happens rarely with Luger items, and I've never been a very lucky person. I guess even a blind sow gets a few acorns now and then. ;)

Decided to be less lazy and took some more pics of the 1900 AE after front sight, and takedown bolt spring repair. Thanks to GT for the sight repair. As always a pleasure to deal with.
