Anyone seen or heard of a Luger Stock like this? If so, who, what, when, where and why please. Listed for sale on the Web:

GERMANY. LUGER STOCK PROTOTYPE
$500.00
Constructed of leather over a wood frame. Stamped on the front edge “P08” “Herich” “2811”. Pinching the claw opens the mechanism to grip the Luger lug. Incredible piece of history.

Looks like a home made device to me.

Probably a one-off hand made item. I think Robert (schutzen-jager) pretty much has the right idea.

somewhere in my American Rifleman achieves i have a post WWII article showing Bavarian gamekeepers accompanying U.S. officers on roe deer hunts - shows one with a standard PO8 with unknown stock + another one with a U.S. M1 carbine - many of their original drillings + other rifles were confiscated + now reside here in the U.S. -

This lobster claw device would grip the stock lug very poorly IMO.

Jerry, kind of like these stocks that don't actually attach, but you can hold it all steady, as long as you keep a grip on it.
